ANOTHER poor night for Lomond United as their losing streak in Ladybank stretched to four games.
It started well for the home side as David Elder gave his side the lead on 15 minutes, rifling home the rebound after his penalty had been saved.
Despite nowhere near their best, Lomond had opportunities to extend that lead before it all started to go wrong midway through the half.
Alan Reid lost possession in his own half which caught out the home defence and an unmarked striker had time to pick his spot.
A jaded looking home side struggled to keep pace with the young students in the second half and the visitors ran out deserved winners.
A near post free-kick was turned into the net on the hour as the Lomond marking left a lot to be desired.
Lomond failed to register a serious attempt on goal in the second half with play breaking down in the final third.
Colleges were gifted a third goal in the final minute as Liam Farrell's late tackle resulted in a penalty, the taker of which gave Bushnell no chance.

LOMOND lost their third home game in a row after Milton's smash and grab.
The home side had most of the play but could not convert pressure into goals as Milton's only shot on target won them the match.
That came from the penalty spot with just 15 minutes left after stand-in goalkeeper Fraser Thomson upended the visitors number eight in the box.
A red card followed for Thomson despite the striker having knocked the ball out of play and Lomond having a defender in line with the incident.
Lomond felt aggrieved at the referee's decision, especially given that a Milton midfielder escaped with just a yellow for a stamp in the first half.
After a scrappy opening 15 minutes Lomond emerged as the more dominant side but despite getting behind the defence on numerous occasions, the final ball let them down.
That story continued into the second half although David Elder was inches away with two long range efforts.
Alan Reid saw a chip beat the keeper on 65 minutes, but a defender headed the ball off the line.
Milton were pinned back and defending resolutely but won the penalty on a rare foray into the Lomond box, following a poor kick-out by Thomson.
Despite down to 10 men, Lomond remained the more dominant side but despite giving everything, there was to be no equaliser.

BURNTISLAND UNITED 0, LOMOND UNITED 2

LOMOND travelled down to Burntisland for a league fixture.
The vistors started well and created a few chances with Dales and Caldwell going close.
After 25 minutes Keith Morris won the ball in the middle of park and from 25 yards let fly into the top corner with an unstoppable shot.
Just before half-time Dales hit the post after the keeper saved his first effort.
Lomond were awarded a penalty after Reid was brought down in the box, up stepped Caldwell to blast the ball into the corner to make it 2-0.
The visitors continued to press and should have scored a couple more but after 82 minutes the ref awarded a penalty to the homesters, which Bushnell saved well.
A welcome three points and a good performance.

ROSYTH WANDERERS 3, LOMOND UNITED 1

THIS wasn't a bad day at the office, but a terrible one for everyone at Lomond United.
Right from the off the vistors where not at the races and soon found themselves 1-0 down when a long ball over the defence saw a home player stop the ball on the by-line.
His pass into the box found an unmarked forward with all the time in the world to blast the ball into the bottom corner past Derek Bushnell as the rest of the players were caught ball watching.
Soon after Rosyth missed a great chance to make it 2-0.
After a poor start, Lomond equalised. Kenny Christie and Sean Farrell combined well down the right to feed Gavin Dales.
He skipped past four defenders and curled the ball beyond the keeper for an excellent goal to make it 1-1.
The vistors were right back in the match - game on.
But instead of taking the game to Rosyth, misplaced passes, miss-timed clearances and bad marking at set pieces saw the homesters go 2-1 in front.
At a Rosyth corner, a defender on the half way line made his way towards the box unmarked. No Lomond player tracked him and when the ball fell to him at the back post he made no mistake from 12 yards.
The second half saw the vistors step up, Christie broke clean through and with everyone waiting for a goal his shot was straight at the keeper.
This was to be Lomond's only real chance.
During the second half, the players did try to get back into the game but just could not put any pressure on the home defence.
With the referee about to blow for full-time and all Lomond's players in the opposition half as they went for broke, a long ball once again saw the striker score to make it 3-1.
Thus ended Lomond United's first vist to Rosyth, a game which is best forgotten about.

LOMOND UNITED 1, NEWTON GLEN 2

MISSED chances and individual errors proved costly for Lomond as Newton Glen put a severe dent in their promotion hopes.
After a slow start, Lomond fell behind due to their own making on 15 minutes.
Kenny Christie, making his first start in four weeks, failed to clear his lines despite two attempts and a striker stole in to score.
Danny Caldwell almost equalised but the Newton keeper, who went on to produce six stunning saves, clawed his point blank volley wide.
Another defensive disaster gave the home side a mountain to climb.
Fraser Thomson swiped at fresh air and this allowed the striker through on goal.
Keeper Derek Bushnell made the save but Thomson, perhaps over-eager to atone for his mistake, conceded a penalty with a rash challenge.
The spot-kick was dispatched and it was 2-0 to Newton Glen.
At half-time Lomond manager Alex Simpson asked his side for a more passionate performance - and he got it.
The home side produced wave after wave of attacks on the visiting goal but each time, the Newton keeper proved equal to the task.
Matt Elder was denied from close range, and Dave Elder's header was somehow stopped on the line.
Thomson's header was also deflected onto the crossbar from one of Lomond's 10 second half corner kicks.
Caldwell did manage to make the pressure count on the hour mark, curling home a 20-yard free-kick with aplom.
However, further attempts on the visiting goal were thwarted by an inspired keeper, and poor finishing.
Gavin Dales could only put his head in his hands as he side-footed wide of an open goal while Keith Morris hit woodwork.
Had Lomond produced a first half performance to match their second, they'd have won this match at a canter.

KENNOWAY 4, LOMOND UNITED 1

A HARD-working performance by Lomond was not enough to stop Kennoway earning a 4-1 win at Cotlands Park in the Carlsberg Cup.
Lomond faced a side unbeaten in all competitions this season and packed full of ex-senior, junior and amateur internationalists.
The Second Division underdogs gave as good as they got in the opening 20 minutes until a fortunate goal handed the home side the opener.
A wind-assisted free-kick from near the touchline, intended as a cross, sailed over the head of Malky Muirhead into the top corner.
Lomond were forced to hit Kennoway on the break and looked dangerous when they did so but Muirhead made two stunning stops to keep the score at just 1-0.
On the stroke of half-time a rash tackle from Drew MacLeod gifted Kennoway a penalty and the taker made no mistake.
The second half started with Lomond pinned in their own half but brave tackling and a well-organised offside trap kept Kennoway at bay.
Gavin Dales chipped just over as Lomond looked for a way back into the cup tie but Kennoway took a 3-0 lead on 65 minutes from another set piece.
A near post free-kick was not properly cleared and the striker had a tap-in.
Shortly afterwards, Lomond conceded from open play for the first time in the match as a 20 yard strike left Muirhead with no chance.
Lomond's work rate never ceased and they got their reward with a late consolation goal, Matthew Elder taking Dales' pass in his stride and clipping the ball over the outrushing keeper.
Lomond may be out the cup, but they can be very proud of their efforts.

BARDAR UNITED 1, LOMOND UNITED 6

LOMOND travelled down to Kinghorn for a league fixture against Barder United and emerged comfortable winners.
The visitors had Derek Bushnell in goal and David Elder starting for the first time since the sides last met in January.
Play was end to end for the opening stages, the vistors had the better chances but had to wait until the 25th minute to open the scoring.
Danny Caldwell struck a shot from 20 yards which the keeper couldn't hold, the in-rushing D.Elder slammed the rebound into the net.
After 30 minutes the homesters levelled the match with a well taken effort at the back post when the defence switched off.
Lomond pressed again and went back in front when good work by Caldwell and D.Elder set Sean Farrell away.
His shot struck the inside of the post before nestling in the back of the net.
Minutes before half time the home side should have been awarded a penalty when a clear hand ball by Neil Cunningham was missed by the ref.
Lomond came flying out the traps at the start of the second half and hit three goals in a ten minute spell.
D.Elder scored two after getting on the end of a couple of crosses for yet another hat trick.
Drew MacLeod was hauled down in the box and up stepped captain Caldwell to score his 23rd of the season from the spot.
The vistors should have continued to keep the home side on the back foot but it was not until late in the match that Gavin Dales scored with the help of a deflection.
The match ended on a sour note when Bardar had two players red carded.
Another three points but plenty more to come from this squad.
They can play better but a good victory to set them up for Saturday's tough cup match against unbeaten Kennoway.

UNITED COLLEGES 3, LOMOND UNITED 4

LOMOND travelled to St. Andrews for a league fixture against the students.
Fraser Thomson took over in goals and they had 16-year-old Dale Cowan on the bench alongside other new comer Ross Rankine.
Prolific marksman David Elder also returned to the squad after a two month absence but had to settle for a place on the bench.
Lomond started well and in the opening minutes and created a few chances however the homesters scored twice after poor defending.
This shocked the vistors into action.
Michael Morris hit a shot from 25 yards which sailed over the keeper's head into the net to give Lomond hope for the second half.
Lomond went all out for an early goal after the break.
Neil Cunningham saw a long range effort well saved then Drew MacLeod saw his shot come back off the post.
A goal was coming and it was centre-half Gordon Forbes who headed in the leveller from a corner.
Against the run of play the students went in front in the 92nd minute with what they thought was the winner.
The referee, who played 59 minutes in the first half, was asked how long was left and he said 2 minutes.
From kick off K.Morris launched the ball forward, a defender headed the ball back towards his keeper but sent it high past him into the net to make it 3-3.
In the final minute of a lengthy injury time period Lomond won a corner.
MacLeod sent the ball over and Lomond's top marksman of the last three seasons headed powerfully past the keeper.
D. Elder was mobbed by his team mates, as they celebrated an excellent victory.

A DISAPPOINTING afternoon for Lomond saw the home side slip to their first league defeat since September.
This was despite a promising start that saw Danny Caldwell miss a gilt-edged chance when clean through on goal.
All Lomond's good work in the opening half hour was undone in a mad two minute spell during which they lost two goals.
A shot across goal was parried by goalkeeper Malky Muirhead to the feet of the left winger who made no mistake.
In YM's next attack, a cross to the back post saw the same player grab his second as he nipped in front of his marker to head home.
This led to finger-pointing in the Lomond ranks, and it took the half-time whistle for a now disjointed side to get itself re-organised.
Lomond emerged up for the fight and took the game to YM but despite pressing the visitors into their own half, United could not muster a shot on target.
In a rare cutting move wih 15 minutes to go, Caldewell flicked the ball through for Matthew Elder to bear down on goal, but the midfielder was hacked from behind as he shot.
A penalty, and a red card for the offending YM defender while Caldwell took the spot kick and his finish was immaculate.
With an equaliser now a real possibility Lomond pushed bodies forward but a poor final ball was keeping YM ahead.
The Kirkcaldy side had only brief glimpses of goal in the second half, but had not troubled Muirhead - that was until the last minute of the game.
A free-kick from the edge of the box broke through a flimsy defensive wall and despite Muirhead's best efforts, the ball reached the net.

LOMOND brought in Kenny Christie for Michael Morris and went with a new 4-5-1 formation in an effort to press the game and keep the vistors on the back foot.
After only five minutes captain Danny Caldwell missed a sitter from five yards, blasting over the bar.
Christie set up Caldwell down the left, his cross was perfect for Janicki, but the keeper did well.
After 25 minutes the vistors were awarded a penalty when Liam Farrell made a tackle and the referee somehow pointed to the spot.
However this kick struck the base of the post then Muirhead made the save.
After 35 minutes Caldwell put Lomond in front with a neat finish.
Just moments before half time the vistors made it 1-1 after a blunder in defence.
The second half saw Lomond create many chances, but poor finishing let them down until Caldwell made it 2-1 to settle the side.
The homesters now had the upper hand and when Shaun Farrell was brought down, the ref awarded Lomond a penalty.
Caldwell scored for an excellent hat-trick and his 19th goal of the season!
With only minutes left Christie blasted the ball into the net to finish the match at 4-1.

CARNEGIE THISTLE 1, LOMOND UNITED 1

LOMOND travelled through to Townhill for a league fixture against Carnegie Thistle.
The visitors brought in Hrdlicka for the injuried Melville, otherwise Lomond stuck with the same 11 as last week.
For the opening 20 minutes Lomond didn't settle and it looked like the long ball tactics from the homesters would cause them trouble.
But against the run of play Lomond went in front, Cunningham started the move, Dales then played in Caldwell who made no mistake - the captain once again doing the business.
The home side continued to punt long balls forward, but Muirhead was not troubled.
The second half was just as poor as the first, and the home keeper made a great save from a Janicki volley.
This was one of only two shots Lomond had in the entire 90 minutes and this was to cost them with 15 minutes to go.
Yet again Lomond lost a goal from a corner, a simple header at the front post beating Muirhead.
This was another below par performance that saw another two points dropped, which is not good enough.
Plenty effort and commitment but results need to improve.

MILTON VIOLET 2, LOMOND UNITED 2

LOMOND arrived in Milton for a difficult league fixture against a side they failed to beat last season.
Michael Morris and Woichech Janicki were brought into the starting 11 to play down the flanks, while Malky Muirhead took over in goals.
Neither team settled in the opening stages but Danny Caldwell was unlucky when the keeper made a mess of a pass back, but a defender got in a good block.
The vistors certainly looked out of sorts with poor passing and just never got going.
After 37 minutes the home striker was clearly off side and as Lomond appealed, the ref waved play on and the ball was rolled into the net.
Seconds before half time Janicki should have levelled but the ball rolled just past the post.
After some strong words at half time the players were informed another 45 minutes like the first would not be accepted.
A changed Lomond side had Milton pinned back and against the run of play the homesters made it 2-0.
But Lomond kept them on the back foot and after 65 minutes M.Morris took a corner that sailed over everyone right into the top corner.
Gavin Dales should have made levelled but his weak effort saw the keeper have time to make the save.
Hrdlicka, Christie and S.Farrell were brought on, and after 83 minutes Caldwell blasted the ball high into the net from 16 yards to equalise.
The home side had 2 players sent off late on and Lomond were unlucky in injury time when Caldwell shot just past.
A dire first half, but credit to the players for the effort raised in the second, when they could have left with three points.

LOMOND UNITED 7, BARDAR UNITED 2

A SPIRITED Lomond United performance earned a 3-3 draw against a talented young Montrose side on Monday night.
Matthew Elder put the visitors ahead at Links Park with a dipping volley from 25 yards that found the top corner.
Montrose equalised seconds before half-time when Lomond failed to clear a near post free-kick and the ball was turned home from six yards.
Lomond fell 3-1 down early in the second half conceding two headed goals, one from a corner and the other following a quick Montrose counter attack.
But Lomond refused to let heads drop and Drew McLeod got them back into the game midway through the half with a terrific strike from the edge of the box.
Five minutes later United were level as Alistair McBain turned home Liam Farrell's flick from a corner.

TWO GOALS in the last 15 minutes saved Lomond from an embarrassing draw on Saturday.
Playing against nine men, albeit down to 10 men themselves, Lomond somehow managed to surrender a two-goal lead before recovering to win the game late on.
Skipper Danny Caldwell got Lomond's opener after just 10 minutes when he was tripped by a Methil defender as he bore down on goal.
The defender received his marching orders for a last man foul and Caldwell coolly stroked the penalty into the bottom corner.
It was soon 2-0 as Drew McLeod's precision pass put David Elder behind the visiting defence and he made no mistake from close range.
Soon after Methil lost another man as a striker was shown a straight red for a stamp on Matt Elder, who was also sent off for retaliating.
At half-time the message from manager Alex Simpson was to go for more goals, but the players instead invited pressure on themselves.
Methil forced Colin Downie into two outstanding saves before McLeod's needless trip gifted the visitors a penalty, which was duly converted.
Five minutes later a cross-come-shot looped over Downie's head and into the top corner and Methil celebrated an unlikely equaliser.
Determined to avoid a third consecutive home defeat, Lomond pulled themselves together and D.Elder restored the homesters lead with a simple finish from six yards.
Striker Gavin Dales, operating on the right of midfield, ensured a comfortable last 10 minutes, cutting in from the wing to slide home the fourth.

UNITED’S cup dream ended at Ladybank on Saturday when they let a 2-0 lead slip against the students from Strathclyde University.
Lomond went in front after four minutes when Danny Caldwell capitalised on a short pass back.
Six minutes later it was 2-0 when Gordon Forbes converted a David Elder corner.
The Strathclyde ‘keeper then made three excellent saves to keep the tie alive.
Against the run of play the visitors made it 2-1 at the interval.
The second half saw a different Lomond as they were second to every ball and wayward passing looked to be giving the students a lift.
It came as no surprise when they levelled the match after 60 minutes with a ball over the top, that caught them out.
Strathclyde got the winner with 15 minutes remaining when a corner was headed home by the tallest player on the pitch.

LOMOND United have drawn Strathclyde University in the third round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.
The match will be played at Victoria Park in Ladybank on Saturday, November 3, kick-off to be confirmed.
Strathclyde Uni play in the Greater Glasgow Premier AFL First Division and have only played two games so far this season, winning one and losing one.

LOMOND cruised into the third round of the Scottish Amateur Cup with a comprehensive win over Edinburgh East side Danderhall MW.
A second half hat-trick from David Elder added to first half goals from strike partners Danny Caldwell and Gavin Dales as Lomond eased into the draw.
United were ahead after 25 minutes when Kenny Christie's corner fell to Caldwell at the back post, who took a touch and slammed home.
The visitors levelled with their first shot on target as a well struck effort from 20 yards left goalkeeper Colin Downie with no chance.
Dales got Lomond back in front before half-time capitalising on a spill from the Danderhall keeper to volley into an unguarded net.
Downie produced a wonder save from a one-on-one just after the restart as a long ball caught out the home defence.
But from then on, Lomond took control and started to play the football they are capable of.
D.Elder's first saw the left winger latch onto a rebound to score, before he popped up again at the back post to score an almost identical second.
His hat-trick was completed late in the game when he broke the offside trap and dispatched a clinical finish past the keeper.

LOMOND bounced back to winning ways after surviving a late scare.
A comfortable three goal lead was Lomond's reward for an excellent 70 minutes but the home side were glad to hear the full-time whistle as a spirited late comeback by Kinglassie fell one goal short.
After forcing the visiting keeper into several good saves Lomond finally opened their account on 25 minutes as captain Danny Caldwell fired home from 20 yards.
Shortly after half-time Sean Farrell got his head to Matthew Elder's cross to nod home the second while Caldwell broke the offside trap to make it 3-0 with 20 minutes to go.
The referee awarded Kinglassie a penalty on 80 minutes, penalising Keith Morris for holding.
The spot kick left keeper Colin Downie with no chance and despite conceding another goal in injury time Lomond secured a deserved three points.

IT IS with much regret that Lomond United announce the departure of coach Kenny Crawford after five years at the club.
Kenny had steered the team from the lower reaches of Sunday football to the Saturday amateur ranks and leaves with the best wishes of all at Lomond.

Conceding a goal inside 30 seconds set the tone for a woeful afternoon for the home side.
The only positive from the match was top marksman of the last three years, David Elder, notching his first goal of the season.

ALTHOUGH Lomond never looked like losing their first home match of the season, they struggled to put the game to bed.
A series of corners was all Lomond could muster despite dominating possession early on so the home side were relieved when a fortunate bounce gave them their opener on 40 minutes.
Keith Morris took a free-kick from just inside his own half and his frustration at overhitting the ball turned to joy when it took a wicked bounce over the goalkeeper's head and into the net.
Rosyth started to come back into the game after the break as Lomond's wasteful free-kicks failed to trouble the visiting defence.
Finally, United fashioned a clear chance to score on 70 minutes as Fraser Thomson floated a cross into the box, which Liam Farrell brilliantly directed past the keeper with his head.
Their second consecutive league victory takes Lomond up to fifth place in the Second Division, eight points behind table-toppers Benarty, who visit Ladybank next Saturday.

PLAYING with a strong wind at their backs, Lomond were disappointed to walk off the pitch at half-time without opening their account.
But the Lomond players rolled their sleeves up for the second half and got their reward with three goals and a much-needed three points.
The United opener arrived courtesy of the penalty spot as captain Danny Caldwell tucked his 12-yard effort inside the right-hand post.
Midfielder Matthew Elder notched a rare goal 10 minutes later, racing onto Caldwell's flick to prod the ball beyond the Newton keeper.
Caldwell struck the bar soon after, and the skipper hit woodwork again moments later, although this time Danny Gillespie was on hand to net from the rebound.

Kirkcaldy YM 4, Lomond United 1

DESPITE an improvement in performance, 10-man Lomond fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Kirkcaldy YM at Denfield Park.
YM took an early lead but Lomond took control of the match and deserved to level before half-time as Danny Caldwell pounced from close range.
A needless foul by Andrew Bousie saw YM re-take the lead at the start of the second half as the resultant free-kick was curled beyond the reach of an out of position Colin Downie.
Lomond were gifted a chance to equalise for a second time 10 minutes later but David Elder's weak penalty was saved.
United did have the ball in the net on 65 minutes as substitute Drew McLeod converted from D.Elder's cut back only for the referee to signal offside.
McLeod's protests earned him a rather harsh straight red card.
Despite losing a man, Lomond still pushed for a way back into the game but the pace of YM's forwards proved too much to handle on the counter attack and two late concessions ended the contest.

Hearts of Beath 1 - 1 Lomond United

Lomond United earned a point from their third fixture of the new season with a one all draw against Hearts of Beath.
The Cowdenbeath side took the lead in the first half but Daniel Caldwell struck a deserved equaliser midway through the second half from a free-kick.
Hearts piled on the pressure in the closing stages and Colin Downie was forced into a breathtaking one-handed save to win Lomond a crucial point.
